Brookwood Education Foundation 2018-19

About Us

The Brookwood Education Foundation (BEF) ensures our school has the resources it needs to provide students with an exceptional learning environment above and beyond what is funded by the District. The BEF board consists of Brookwood parents, our Principal and teacher representation. We partner closely with the PTA to coordinate school-wide fundraising programs, corporate sponsorships and community support. Your donations and participation in our annual campaign, Trunk or Treat and spring Golf tournament directly fund a variety of needs from staff positions to teacher grants and more.

Programs and Positions We Help Fund

For the 2018-2019 school year, BEF donations are utilized to fund a Reading Aid and the popular after-school Spanish Club. We also fund an annual Teacher Grant program to assist our teachers with classroom and curriculum needs.

“It is an exciting time to teach reading! The 95% Group materials received through our grant have been a great supplement to our resources for teaching phonological awareness to students. We have used the materials with our kindergarten students to ensure they have a great foundation of skills to build upon. Thank you BEF!”

-Kelly Gilhaus, Brookwood Reading Specialist

“We are thrilled with the gift of 2 more octaves of chimes – making our total 8 octaves, or the space for 29 students to ring together. That means that EVERY SINGLE STUDENT can learn to ring with two or more chromatic chimes. It allows for much for flexibility in the classroom, and when the students don’t need to share a chime then they can be far more focused and get on with the business of making music! We are so blessed!” – Marilyn Lake, Brookwood Music Teacher

For the 2019-20 school year, and beyond, the BEF and PTA boards will collaborate to jointly develop fundraising programs for optimal impact.  With this effort we hope to fund a full-time, position with an Innovation Specialist at Brookwood (current position is shared). This dedicated role will expand and support the growth of our STEM curriculum, allowing students to engage with emerging technologies and integrate these trends into their learnings.
